About MTCMA
Mzansi Traditional and Cultural Music Awards (MTCMA) was established in 2019 by multi-award-winning artist and Mzansi’s Cultural Exchange Ambassador Dr. Nomdakazana Dlamini. Our awards are based on artistic and technical merit, chosen and voted for by the public.

OUR VISION
Our vision is to offer the most transparent and fair awards to all deserving musicians in Mzansi Afrika. In a landscape rich with diverse cultures, we recognize the fading acknowledgment of cultural and traditional music. We have taken it upon ourselves to revive and restore its dignity and prominence. We aim to:
- Celebrate Diversity: Acknowledge and honor the unique contributions of artists from all nine provinces, embracing the richness of Mzansi Afrika’s cultural heritage.
- Ensure Fairness: Maintain a transparent and fair judging process that values artistic and technical merit, chosen and voted for by the public.
- Support Artists: Provide not only recognition but also tangible support, such as funeral covers for award winners, ensuring that no creative is forgotten or left unsupported.
- Educate and Empower: Offer workshops to help artists understand their rights, improve their craft, and realize their worth in the industry.
- Honor Unsung Heroes: Recognize and celebrate the often-overlooked contributors to our musical landscape, ensuring their legacy and impact are remembered.

OUR MISSION
Every creative in the sector deserves acknowledgment. It’s not about fame or airplay, but the quality of creativity that matters. At MTCMA, we believe that:
- Recognizing Quality: We honor the artistic excellence of musicians, ensuring their contributions are celebrated regardless of their commercial success.
- Providing Support: We award our winners with funeral covers, ensuring no creative is left unsupported in their time of need.
- Educating Artists: Many creatives are unaware of their rights and true worth. MTCMA provides workshops to empower artists with knowledge and skills to navigate the industry effectively.
- Creating Opportunities: Each event we host creates over 30 jobs, fostering employment and growth within the creative sector.
- Promoting Cultural Heritage: We are dedicated to reviving and preserving the dignity of cultural and traditional music in Mzansi Afrika.
Through these efforts, MTCMA aims to uplift underground, upcoming, and established artists, providing them with the recognition and support they deserve.
OUR TARGET MARKET
MTCMA uplifts underground, upcoming, and established artists, while honoring unsung heroes for their artistic and technical merit in the music industry. Our target market includes:
- Underground Artists: Those who are just starting out and seeking recognition and support to showcase their talent.
- Upcoming Artists: Musicians who are gaining traction and need platforms to further their careers.
- Established Artists: Seasoned musicians who continue to contribute significantly to the cultural and traditional music scene.
- Unsung Heroes: Individuals whose contributions to the music industry have been overlooked, yet their impact is undeniable.
By focusing on these groups, MTCMA aims to celebrate and support a diverse range of talent, ensuring that all voices in the music industry are heard and appreciated.
